Eugene Austin Sprehn, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away peacefully on January 11th, at the age of 83, following complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Gene was born in Washington D.C. to Charlotte Austin and George Warren Sprehn, Jr. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington D. C. in 1959, he worked in various technical positions, before finally following his passion for “making things right” and opened T.F.I. (The Fix It), where he spent more than four decades doing custom home improvement and remodeling projects throughout the DMV.
Gene was the beloved husband of the late Leassa Sprehn; father of Donna Harsh (Robert), Hillary Rosenberg (Daniel), Amanda Sprehn (Jackson Cheng), and Elliott Sprehn (Rachel Nancollas); adoring grandfather of Lindsey, Julie, Dan, Hailey, Benny, Shayna, Julia, Talia, Elodie, and Ciel; brother of Stephen Sprehn, Gwen Sprehn (Andy Saykin), the late Brian Sprehn, George Sprehn (Susan), Greg Sprehn, and Roger Sprehn (Shirley); brother in law of Janice Brodsky (Norris), and the late Howard Lund.
Services will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 12:30pm at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, Silver Spring, MD, followed by burial at Judean Memorial Gardens, Olney, MD at 2PM. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation (www.parkinson.org).
