Gary S. Chandler

GARY S. CHANDLER 1945 - 2016 Gary Chandler of Rockville, MD, beloved husband of Susan Chandler and beloved father of Wendy Chandler, passed on September 16, 2016 after a long illness. He lived a full life of positivity and integrity, always focusing on "family first". Gary was born in Washington, D.C. to Helen and Walter Chandler and remained in the area for his lifetime. A lifelong learner, he attended Montgomery Blair High School, graduated from University of MD and received a Masters from Johns Hopkins. He was highly respected for his work in real estate as a market analyst and was an expert in legal matters and fair housing. Gary met Susan Goodman in college and they lived a life of deep caring and loving partnership for 50 years. Daughter Wendy Chandler is Susan and Gary's greatest achievement. He and Wendy shared many pastimes, especially a love of college football. Gary had many diverse interests, including photography, archaeology, geography, economics and history and was passionate about his book and music collections. Gary and Susan travelled many times to Sedona, AZ, where he would find an important connection to the Native American people and culture. He was deeply dedicated to his family and was a wonderful neighbor and friend, always ready to help. He lived a courageous life of humor and appreciation for each day. He will be remembered as a man who lived life to the fullest. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church, 9601 Cedar Lane, Bethesda, MD at 10:30 am.
