Herbert Jacobowitz

Herb received his B.S. from Brooklyn College, his M.S. from the University of Maryland and his PhD from MIT. As an atmospheric physicist at NOAA, Herb was a leader in the development of weather satellite experiments and in studies of climate change. At retirement, he fulfilled his lifelong wish to teach mathematics as an adjunct professor at Montgomery College. His greatest joys were his adoring family and his wide circle of precious friends who appreciated his lovable and caring nature.

Services will be held at Temple Shalom, 8401 Grubb Road, Chevy Chase, MD at noon on Tuesday, February 20. Interment will be at the Judean Memorial Gardens, 16225 Batchellor’s Forest Road, Olney, MD at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 20. Shiva will be held at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, February 20 and Wednesday, February 21 in the event room at 15000 Pennfield Circle, Silver Spring, MD 20906. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children’s National Hospital, Temple Shalom, or the charity of your choice.
