February 28, 1941 - January 27, 2022
Herbert Friedrich Rickert went to join his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the age of 80.
Herb was born February 28, 1941 to Herbert and Frieda of Elma, New York. Brother to Nancy and Eileen. Herb was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Mary Belle. He is survived by his daughters, Wendy Molter (Mark) and Sharon Bowie (Ian); and his grandchildren: Colin Bowie, Lynn-Marie Bowie, Jack Molter and Luke Molter. His children and grandchildren will cherish his faith in God and his unconditional love for each of them. They are comforted by warm memories of Dad, Pop-Pop, and Grandpa.
Herb attended Tri-State University, now Trine University, and graduated with a degree in Accounting and Finance. After graduating, he moved from Ohio to Maryland and pursued a career in accounting at the Atomic Energy Commission, now the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Herb was promoted to management and held several positions in finance and technical infrastructure. Herb continued to work with a distinguished record at the NRC for over 35 years until he retired. Along with his government position at the NRC, Herb ran a successful financial services business. He enjoyed helping people with their personal financial planning and tax preparation.
Herb was a faithful member of King of the Nations Christian Fellowship. He was active in his relationship with the Lord, attended worship services, and had the pleasure of traveling on a mission trip to Mexico.
Herb continued to be an active alumnus of Trine University. As often as possible, he enjoyed returning to campus for homecoming activities. He looked forward to cheering on the Thunder at hockey and football games.
People wishing to honor Herb’s lifelong commitment to Christ and Tri-State can make donations in his name to the Christian Campus House (Tri-State Christian Fellowship). Please send all donations to 400 S. College Street Angola, Indiana 46703.
A celebration of Herb's life will be announced at a future date.
