Kit Shan Teresa Lam, 65, passed away on June 12, 2019 at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, Maryland. Born and raised in Hong Kong, she had a difficult childhood due to her parents’ divorce at the age of 6. Raised primarily by her grandmother, she learned very quickly to be self-reliant. This pursuit of self-reliance and self-education remained a big part of her life .
After completing Form 5, or 11th grade, she started her working career. She progressed from being a bank teller to a branch manager by her 30s. Then she went on to become the top sales agent for AIA.
She immigrated to the US through her second marriage in 2013 and became a full time housewife in Rockville, Maryland. In 2014, she answered the most important call in her life to follow Jesus and was baptized in the Chinese Bible Church of Maryland.
She battled cancer from the very beginning of her new life in the US. Diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer right before her relocation in 2013, she was declared in remission from her cancer after the initial combination treatment. Unfortunately, the cancer recurred and spread in 2015. By God’s grace, the excellent medical care and her own determination, she had continued to touch many lives for almost 4 more years.
She loved to cook, to talk about real estate and to be around her 3 grandchildren. She had a passion to share her faith with her loved ones, friends and acquaintances.
She is survived by her husband, Alan Wong, her son and daughter-in-law, Brian Chu and Jaycee Jiang, her sister, Kitty, her step sons, Marcus and Hayden, and grandchildren, Ashton, Annabelle and Alicia.
