Linda Kay Fellman, daughter of the late Morton and Sophia Peyser passed away peacefully in her home in Silver Spring, Maryland on February 22, 2024. She is survived by her sister Paula Rodenas, her husband of 64 years, Steven Fellman, sons Douglas, Mark and Glenn, daughters-in-law Christine Brauer and Lisa Fellman, and five grandchildren Benjamin, Alexandra, Michael, Robert, and Daniel.
Linda graduated from Hunter College in New York in 1961 and moved to Silver Spring, MD in 1962 with husband Steve and 2-month old son Douglas. An artistic entrepreneur and poet, Linda operated a party planning business from her home, designed and made women’s sports outfits, and wrote personalized poems for birthdays, candle lighting ceremonies and retirement events. For fifteen years working with partner Sandy Morse, Linda designed and manufactured jewelry hand-crafted from antique buttons which they sold at juried craft shows. A stay-at-home Mom with three sons, Linda not only carried on her business activities but for ten years also served as a volunteer at the Montgomery Hospital Thrift Store as well as the Montgomery County Humane Society.
Linda was an animal lover and always had two or more dogs, and an occasional cat, bird or turtle in the house. She enjoyed watching the wild deer that lived in the woods behind her house and had names for the ones that visited most frequently.
In her late forties, Linda convinced her husband Steve to take up boating. They took a Coast Guard course and then bought a 23-foot motor boat which they kept at the Queens Landing Marina on Kent Island, Maryland, where they owned a town house on the Chester River. By the time they reached their 70’s, Linda convinced Steve to sell their townhouse and upgrade their boat to a 40-foot Mainship sedan cruiser which they lived on almost every weekend from May through October. Linda served as Captain of all of their boats and was skilled at docking large boats in narrow slips in all kinds of weather.
A true matriarch, Linda was the glue that held her close family together and brought everyone together for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and more, where she showed her love through personalized poems and custom-made greeting cards.
A memorial service will be held on March 3, 2024 at 1pm at the Judean Gardens Cemetery Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Montgomery County Hospice or the ASPCA.
