Mabel Oritsemajemite Akuya was born on January 18th, 1962, in Warri, Nigeria. A beloved wife, mother, confidant, leader and most importantly a friend to all, was suddenly called home to Heaven at the age of 62 on September 14th, 2024. Mabel was a cherished daughter of Phillip Skinn and Alexandria Ugborogho, graduated from the School of Nursing Ministry of Health in Benin City, married, moved to Silver Spring, Maryland, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College.
Mabel was a dedicated nurse who passionately served her patients at Adventist Behavioral Health. Mabel leaves behind her four children: Misan, Oma, Tsola, and Ofe, as well as her first grandchild Kingsley, to whom she was a devoted grandmother to. Her family was one of her greatest joys next to serving The Lord; Mabel loved The Lord whole heartedly, serving Christ and His people righteously as an active member of the Anglican Church of the Messiah.
An adventurous spirit, Mabel was well traveled and always expressed herself with her unique fashion sense. Mabel had a gift for making others laugh, brightening any room with her presence. Mabel will never be forgotten. We invite all who knew Mabel to celebrate her life and cherish the beautiful memories she created with us.
