

Marvin (“Red”) G. Williams, Jr. passed away suddenly July 13, 2022 in Silver Spring, MD. He was born in Elizabeth City, NC January 19, 1925 to Rosa and Marvin Williams, Sr. He was predeceased in death by his first wife, Ervadene Frost Williams,to whom he was married 40 years, his second wife, Dorothy Webb Williams (1989-2021), and his brother Charles Williams. Red is survived by his son, Donald E. Williams of Virginia Beach, his step-sons: Ken Webb (Laura), Wes Webb (Charlie),and Jim Webb (Janis), nephews, Mark and Steve Williams, grand-children: Austin and Cameron Williams, Leah Schryer, Kathryn Gruver, Andrew Webb, Jason Webb and Jennifer Weintraub and 10 great-grandchildren.
Red, a proud WWII veteran, was a Navy medic and served from (1943-46). Red lived on Kinloch Road in Hillandale for over 50 years before he and Dorothy moved to Riderwood. They were active and faithful members of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Silver Spring. Red was a very successful and highly respected salesman for 33 years for Gray Concrete Pipe Co. where he advanced to the position of Vice-President. Red and Dorothy spent retirement years traveling, winters in Florida and summers at their treasured “land of good living”: The Blue Lagoon, in Ocean City, MD. He was an avid fisherman and caught more than his share of flounder "keepers" with his good friend, Captain Joe.
Red, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, will be remembered as a man with a big heart. He was always patient and kind and never lost his temper. The Webb children will always remember his devotion to Dorothy, caring for her through her final years until her dying day. He was her rock.
Red's lifetime motto was "every day is a bonus day". He lived every day of his life like it was.
A memorial service will be held at the Riderwood Chapel in Riderwood Senior Living Community, Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, MD on September 6, 2022 at 11AM. Red will be interred at Arlington National cemetery.
