Moreen was born on the 30th of August 1948 in Georgetown Guyana to Francena Underwood and Clarence Griffith. She was an RN who enjoyed a dynamic, fulfilling and successful career in nursing. She worked in several hospitals throughout the District of Columbia and Maryland. She later became a school nurse, working for Prince George’s Public School where she was able to return to her first passion, helping children.
She married Thomas James Freso in late 1970. They moved to the US in the late 1970's with their two daughters, so that Thomas could pursue his advanced degree at Howard University. Thomas passed away in 1994, but Moreen’s strong will, compassion and love for children brought another child into the household and she went on to raise three girls. Moreen had a strong belief in God and family. Keeping family together was at the forefront of her focus and she ensured that she instilled those same values in each child.
Moreen is survived by her three daughters Abigail Freso-Umanzor, HollyAnn Freso-Moore and Shada Roper and four grandchildren Rudy and Felix Freso-Umanzor, Charlotte Freso-Moore and Spenser Roper.
