

Robert Strauss, a cherished member of The Parke in Berlin, MD, passed away peacefully on March 21st, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on September 13th, 1940, in New York City, New York, Robert lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to his family and friends.
Raised in New York City's Lower East Side, Robert enlisted in the Army and served his country for two years. In 1964, he married Joan Nye, and together they built a beautiful family, welcoming two children, Mark and David Strauss.
Robert's career was marked by his entrepreneurial spirit. Together, Robert and Joan owned and operated beauty salons for 30 years, and later, Maryland Farm Super Liquors for seven years until he retired at the age of 60.
An avid reader and lover of history, Robert enjoyed a good book and a spirited debate. His love for travel took Robert and Joan extensively throughout the world, creating memories and friendships that lasted a lifetime. His passion for collecting stamps and coins was well-known among his friends and family.
Robert was also a passionate sports fan, especially of the San Francisco Giants. He loved playing cards and could rattle off statistics about any team or player all day long. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious, and he enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Strauss, who stood by his side through all of life's adventures. Robert was a devoted father to Mark and David Strauss, and a proud grandfather to Rachel, Maximus, Hannah, Erica, and Nicole Strauss. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Robert was pre-deceased by his parents, Benjamin and Sylvia Strauss, whose memories he held close to his heart.
Robert's legacy will live on through the love and memories shared by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. As Robert would always end his emails with ‘Loving Life, Bob’.
Graveside services will be held to honor Robert’s life and legacy on Wednesday, March 26th, 10:00 AM at King David Memorial Gardens located at 2712 Hollywood Road, Falls Church 22042. Family will have a reception for friends immediately following the graveside service in the Rappahannock room at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Make a Wish Foundation in memory of Robert Strauss.
