I have known Roger since 2nd grade.  We went to the same schools thru high school and the same church. We had many great times off and on thru these years-  a trip to the World's Fair in 1965,   movie events and shows,  groomsman at his wedding, visit  with him and Voula in Clearwater Beach,      etc. so it's very difficult to lose a  lifetime friend,   but we still have the memories to last.  We want to offer peace and comfort to his dear wife, Voula,  in  these times~~

To: Roger and Voula. 
We moved in next door only two years ago, and I felt like we have known both of you for years. Our kids have grown to know “Mr.Roger and Ms. Voula.”  I would see Roger every morning and would chat about his newspaper being delivered and his apricots growing over the fence,  His roses climbing the fence and his daily walks. He would always say “hi”in the morning and it was a wonderful start to our day.  I remember when Dominic my oldest son helped him with the groceries, and told me that Mr. Roger was so nice and we were so lucky to have nice neighbors… Roger was such a kind person and we are really luck to have known him.

When I remember Roger...We would go to his parents house for dinner, my mother and brother and I. They always had dessert. Roger always liked dessert. I would talk about things with him. Whatever we talked about would be something interesting. I was only in junior High School. Roger was two years older. 
Roger told me when I was 17 that he would teach me how to drive. I showed up for my lesson only to find that he had a man there for me to meet for a date. He still owes me a driving lesson. 
I remember the thanksgiving that Roger brought Voula to meet the family for the first time. We all knew that she was the woman for him.

Roger would always take you around to see the sights. He would always volunteer to pick anyone up at the airport, or drive them around DC and show off the history. He was in touch with all the far flung branches of the family. I hope that we did not take him for granted, because he was so helpful so often. He loved Voula very much. I hope he is at peace, and I wish Voula peace in her journey through grief, it is something you never get over, but something you must get through one day at a time.

Roger and Voula came to visit us in Rhode Island.  They had been looking for a hotel late at night and were not able to find one, so they called us and we put them up in my little brother Jamie's bedroom. My brother's hamster Penny shared the room with them while they stayed. Later we realized the hamster had died  and they spent three days sleeping in a room with a dead hamster. My mom said not to tell them because classy people should not be made to sleep with dead hamsters. 
Roger and Voula offered to take us kids out to see the Newport mansions and let our parents stay home. It was very brave of them. We were about to go into a mansion when we complained we were hungry and Voula gave us some delicious Greek honey cookie tasting stuff. 
We had a little cat named Christmas who had just had kittens when Roger and Voula visited. They named one of the little kittens Persephone. Roger was always the first to volunteer to take us out to see the sights in DC or tell us the history of various areas. When my mother and I took the plane to MD for the funeral we had to rent a car. We both said how if Roger were alive he would have picked us up and driven us around, but now he's gone and we have to drive ourselves. I hope we never took him for granted. He was always so helpful. I hope he is at peace, and Voula is the sweetest soul. I hope she is able to work through her grief. It is never easy to lose someone you love.

Roger would cover a marathon distance on foot showing me the sites in and around D.C.  Roger's sweetness and enthusiasm were infectious, and I loved hearing about the antique staircase he was on a mission to preserve and restore.  When Georgeanne turned 70, Roger was in Rhode Island helping out in any way he could.  I fondly remember long conversations in "The Library" over coffee and ice cream.  Roger got me started muting commercials when they come on the TV.  Roger and Voula's door was always open, and I love them both very much.
