Ronald Furey

Ronald Spencer Furey transitioned peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2026, with his devoted wife, Marcia Renee Furey, by his side. Born on August 3, 1962, in Tewkesbury, Massachusetts, he was the second of two children in the family of Warren and Evonne Furey. Ron and Marcia were married on September 17, 1988. Their son, Avery Spencer Furey, was born to this union.

Ron received his education in the Public Schools of Brookline, Massachusetts. Upon graduating from Brookline High School, he continued his studies at Howard University, where he met his beloved “Marcie,” and graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Technology. Ron served as a Computer Systems Analyst at MCI WorldCom.

Throughout his life, Ron was a devoted husband, father, son, son-in-law, cousin, and friend. He found great joy spending time on his boat fishing, listening to jazz music, helping others with computer issues, and spending time with family and friends. Ron especially loved playing chess and video games with his son Avery. They really enjoyed working on school projects together. He was so proud of how quickly Avery grasped the computer skills he taught him and how easily Avery was able to take apart a computer and use the parts to build another computer.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Spencer Furey and Evonne Barbara Furey. Their memory remained close to his heart throughout his life.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 37 years, Marcia; son, Avery; sister, Lisa Renee Furey; brother, Spencer Mark Furey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alvin Hubert Waring and Dorothy Brinkley Waring; brother-in-law, Alvin Hubert Waring, Jr.; as well as many cousins, extended family members, and cherished friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on April 11, 2026, at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, Legacy Chapel, 11800 NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE, SILVER SPRING, MD 20904, US, and a live stream will be available at https://my.gather.app/remember/ronald-furey.
