

Born October 11th, 1934 in Memphis, Missouri, the son of the late Elza and Mae (Snelling) Burns. He married Terry McLaughlin, of Kahoka Missouri, on September 4th, 1955. He was preceded in death by sons, David Elza Burns who died in infancy, and James Stephen Burns, on December 12, 2017, at the age of 59.
Tom graduated from the University of Missouri where he studied Electrical Engineering and served our country both as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and later as a contractor for the government. His work on rocket and satellite systems, helped to secure and protect our country. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, being an active member of the Methodist Men at Colesville United Methodist Church and spending time with his family, who loved him dearly.
In addition to his wife of 67 years, Terry Alwin Burns, he is survived by his daughter Laura and son-in-law Terry of Woodbine, Maryland, son Kevin and his partner Faith of Havre de Grace, Maryland, her two sons Jordan and Mason, grandchildren Colin and his wife Cassie, Kaila, Erin and her wife Anita, Kari, and great grandson Hayden.
A memorial service for Thomas will be held Friday, January 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Riderwood Village Chapel, 3110 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, Maryland 20904. A luncheon will be held immediately afterward in the Celebration Room in the Town Center building.
