I couldn’t find any pictures of me and Mr. Tim but he was my step dad.  Him and my mom had been together for years but I met him when I was about 10/11 years old. From the first time we met he always was so kind and loving and even treated me like one of his own from day one. When my mom passed we got closer we talked often and he was always there when I needed him. I will forever love him and be grateful for the years we shared. Love you!  Love you! Love you!

Many condolences. I read 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 (NLT) when my father passed and wanted to share with you all.

"That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So, we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever."

Five years ago, I brought my father back to Maryland, guided by a dear friend whose presence felt divinely sent. What followed was a chapter unlike any before—one filled with laughter, love, and the kind of healing that only time and grace can offer.

We built a new bond, different from the one we had growing up. It was sometimes challenging, often joyful, and always real. I cared for him deeply. I'm grateful my siblings had the chance to reconnect with him, and that he was able to meet—and adore—his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

My father carried many burdens over the years, but in the end, he found peace. His final day was a good one—filled with warmth, laughter, and love. And that’s how I’ll remember him.

One of the most cherished memories I have of my father is his deep love for music and dancing. It’s something that shaped not only his life—but mine as well.

When our family was stationed in Japan, I was about five or six years old. I remember my father coming home from his shift, and almost like clockwork, the music would start playing. He and my mother shared a special bond through music, and I would often watch them dance together in our home—whether it was the middle of the day or late into the evening. Those moments were full of joy, rhythm, and connection.

It was through my father that I was first introduced to music. I’m talking about the sounds of Mandrill, Sly and Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, The Delfonics, The Temptations, The O’Jays—the kind of music that moves your soul before it moves your feet. He didn’t just listen to music; he felt it, lived it, and shared it with us.

That influence never left me. To this day, I believe I’m the only one in the family who dances the way he did—with heart. And I dance because he taught me what it means to truly enjoy music. His passion became my own.

So when I think of my father, I don’t just remember the man who served, who worked hard, and who loved his family—I remember the music. I remember the dancing. And I remember the joy he brought into our lives through both.
