

Albert Joseph Belliveau, 67, of Skowhegan passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, October 13, 2012, surrounded by his family and close friends at Redington-Fairview Hospital. He was born on March 31, 1945 in Skowhegan to Anthony and Cecile Belliveau; one of four children.
Albert served in the US Navy. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served on the USS Engage MSO 433 and the USS Impervious MSO 466, minesweepers in the Gulf of Tonkin for two tours. While in the US Navy he learned electrical engineering and later acquired his Master Electrician’s license and was a member of IBEW Local 1253. He also participated in extracurricular boxing matches where he won several metals. He was a true Patriot throughout the remainder of his life.
Albert was a loving father, step father, grandfather, great grandfather, husband, brother and friend. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and nature. He enjoyed watching and photographing eagles. He loved to fish in the Moosehead and Rangeley Lakes regions. Some of his most cherished moments in life were camping and fishing with family. He also enjoyed fishing off the Maine Coast with several of this fellow veteran friends where they would tag and release sharks. In later life he treasured his travels to various waterfalls throughout the U.S. with his wife, Mary Rose. He was an accomplished woodworker. He built two of his homes while introducing his sons to every aspect of the building trade which have since served them well. He was a proud member of many area support groups.
Albert was predeceased by his 2nd wife of 24 years, Margaret “Winnie” Belliveau and their beloved dog, Buddy. Albert is survived by his current wife, Mary Rose Callain, his children; Barbara Jankovich and husband Matthew, Craig Belliveau and wife Shelly, Laurie Belliveau and fiancé John Haefele, Alicia Nicholls and husband Darren, Justin Belliveau and wife Amy, his step-children; Megan Courtney and fiancé Joey Hannah, Julia Courtney, and Carolyn Courtney, his grandchildren; Bryan Belliveau and wife Renee, Brandie Burrill and husband Eric, Whitney Soucy, Katelyn Soucy, Courtney Oakes, William Oakes, Kelsey Jankovich, Zoe Nicholls, Riley Nicholls, Logan Nicholls, and Maggie Belliveau, his great grandchildren; Leah Burrill, Isaac Burrill, Sierra Jervais, and Aiden Blodgett, his siblings; Anthony Belliveau, David Belliveau and wife Nadine, his sister; Evelyn Charles and husband Malcolm and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday October 18, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, October 19, 2012, from 2pm to 3pm at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. A funeral service will also be held at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 3pm with a committal service to follow at 4pm.
