

OAKLAND – Edgar A. Miller, Jr passed away August 10, 2017 at the age of 88 at Maine General Hospital in Augusta surrounded by family. He was the youngest of three sons of Edgar A. Miller, Sr., born in Lakewood Ohio where he was raised, spent his youth, and graduated from high school. He went on to college at Case Western Reserve and to The Ohio State University in Ohio where he served in the Air Force ROTC and received his Ph. D. He married the love of his life, Patricia Anne Webster on June 15, 1952. He was stationed at the air base in Lake Charles, Louisiana and went on to a career in economics after leaving the service. He worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio before moving his family to Maine to work for Maine state government. He was an active Boy Scout Leader in both Ohio and Maine, leading his scout troops on hikes, camp-outs and canoe trips. He retired from state government and took up farming which brought him much joy. In his retirement, he became the caretaker of the Boy Scout Camp in Belgrade, Camp Bomazeen.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia of Oakland; son Edgar III and wife Robin of Skowhegan; daughter Kathy Hopkins and husband Bob of Norridgewock; daughter Wendy Allard and family of Somerville; and son David and family of Augusta; seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by great-grandson Edgar Allen Miller V.
A Funeral Service will be held at All Saints Church, 169 Malbons Mills Rd., Skowhegan on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 2 p. m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, Madison Ave. Skowhegan.
