NORRIDGEWOCK - Geneva Shirley Morgan Brown, 75, of Norridgewock passed away peacefully on August 2, 2012, in Norridgewock, with her loving family at her side. She was born on May 7, 1937, in Portland, the daughter of the late Agnes (Goodspeed) and Maxwell Morgan.
Being part of a military family, Geneva lived in several states including Maryland and California before the family returned to Norridgewock where she attended Riverview School and Skowhegan High School. While growing up in Norridgewock, she met and then married her high school sweetheart, Lloyd Ellery “Brownie” Brown, and together they raised three children, built up a family business and were blessed with two wonderful grandchildren. They owned and operated Brownie's Janitorial Service since 1963, starting in Connecticut and continuing here in Central Maine. Geneva managed the books for the family business and also worked as a ward secretary at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan. She was a member of the Norridgewock Seventh-day Adventist Church and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. She was a long time survivor of breast cancer and was a Reach to Recovery volunteer to support others going through similar experiences. Geneva handled all the challenges and joys of life with grace and humor and was an inspiration to many around her.
Geneva is survived by her daughter, Deb Brown, and companion Brian Alexander; her son, Lloyd E. Brown Jr., and wife Cheryl; her son, Randy Brown, and wife Penny; her grandchildren, Mathew and Jennifer Brown; her brother, Howard Morgan and wife Elaine; her sister, Nancy (Morgan) Meola and husband Earle; brother in-law Harold Brown and wife Joan, who was also Geneva’s cousin; brother in-law Robert (Bobby) Brown and wife Laura; brother in-law Richard Brown; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Lloyd Ellery “Brownie” Brown.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Oak Cemetery, River Road, Norridgewock.
