Gerald P Cahill

He was born September 14, 1949 in Skowhegan, Maine, the son of John and Alfreda (Thibodeau) Cahill. He and his brother Raymond were raised on Fredericks Farm with foster family the Frederick’s, Greenleaf’s and Nickerson’s.

He attended and graduated from Skowhegan High School in the class of 1969.

He started his career working in area shoe shops, he then went on to a nursing career as a C.N.A., and he worked many years driving taxi in Skowhegan. In his recent years he enjoyed traveling fairs working for the Pony Express. He delivered papers for the Morning Sentinel Newspaper for many years up until his illness.

He has enjoyed spending time with family and always loved giving a helping hand.

He is survived by his daughter Nicole Cahill and her boyfriend Dan Corson of Madison, ex-wife Elizabeth Cahill of Madison, two stepchildren; Tom Jones of Madison, Tammy Jones and her boyfriend Allen Sabins of Fairfield, three grandchildren; Ashley Corson and her boyfriend R.J. Simonds of Madison, Trisha Corson of Madison and her boyfriend Amos Withee of Salem and Aaron Corson of Madison, great-grandson Logan Simonds, one brother Raymond Cahill and his wife Gloria of Madison, three sisters; Corinne Dunton of Skowhegan, Theresa Foster and her boyfriend Herbert Jones of Lewiston, Margaret Goodridge of Clinton, nieces; Lisa Cahill of Madison, Sammantha Cunningham and her husband Kevin of Lewiston, Tiffany Jones of Lewiston, Flora Dunton of Portland and many great-nieces and nephews; Chelsea Newhall, Joshua Newhall, Joel Cunningham, Destiny Cunningham and Jeffery Jones.

He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Gloria Jones and brother in-law; Richard Dunton.

Gerald was a very loving caring man who is going to be missed dearly; he is loved and will never be forgotten.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday June 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
