
She was born November 24, 1924, in North New Portland, Maine, the daughter of Marcellus and Minnie (Tripp) Walker.
Gladys was educated in the North New Portland schools.
She first married Norman L. Moody Sr. on December 5, 1942, in Cornville, Maine. She then married George E. Fish Sr., on February 6, 1954, in Cornville, Maine. He died March 8, 2000.
Gladys was self-employed as a farmer’s wife for many years. She then worked in the area shoe shops for a while, and then she worked in a local nursing home as a nurse’s aid.
She was a member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church in Madison; she received a 15 year award as a church volunteer for going to Cedar Ridge Nursing Home to read scripture and she also help out as a volunteer at the Somerset County Jail Ministries.
She is survived by her children; Norman Jr., and his companion Debra Bernard of Canaan, Eleanor McAfee and her husband Ralph of Skowhegan, Irmalene Holt and her husband Robert of Skowhegan, Muriel Fish and her husband David Houston of Smithfield, George E. Fish Jr. and his wife Cher of Cornville, step-daughter Joyce Fish of New Hampshire, fifteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, baby Moody, three half brothers, three brothers, and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 8, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Pentecostal Church, 160 Old Point Ave., Madison, burial to follow at the North New Portland Cemetery in N. New Portland.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
