

She was born in Dexter on May 11, 1929, the daughter of Leamon and Leone (Hayden) Franklin.
Gloria graduated from Madison High School, class of 1947. She then attended the University of Maine at Orono.
She married Charles John Carpenter and moved to the “Farm” where they raised Chuck and Cathy Jo.
She lead a very busy life on the farm, chasing cattle, feeding the hay crew and nursing baby sheep, when she wasn’t running meetings for the Somerset County Republicans or conducting business at the Skowhegan Fair Agriculture office. In her spare time you would find Gloria painting with her oils. Her art work was beautiful and won many first prizes at the fair.
Gloria loved nothing more or cared more deeply for than her family and friends. Her three granddaughters were the highlights in her life.
Gloria also known as Auntie Glo or Aunt Jean , is survived by one son, Chuck Carpenter and his wife, Mary Ellen of Marco Island , Fl., one daughter, Cathy Jo Kwolek and her husband David of Rochester Hills, MI., one sister, Jacquelyn McComb of Naples, FL., three granddaughters, Amy E. Hughes and husband, Kevin of Jamaica Plain, MA., Cameron J. Carpenter of Naples, FL., Megan Jo Kwolek of Glastonbury, CT., and many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
She is predeceased by her husband Charles J. Carpenter Sr., her parents, Leamon and Leone, one sister, Eda Fortier, two brothers, Carl and Paul Franklin, and one day old twin brothers, one brother-in-law, Orman Fortier, two sisters-in-laws, Dottie Franklin and Doris Franklin.
The family wants to give thanks to all the caregivers, especially to Norma Stevens and Ty Strout.
Visiting hours will be held on Dec. 3, 2015 from noon until time of her funeral service at 1:00 pm at the First Congregational Church, 32 River Rd., Norridgewock, ME. Interment will follow at the Sunsetview Cemetery in Norridgewock.
