

Henny was born and raised in Germany. She lived and worked there in the years of the military occupation. During this time she met her husband, a U.S. Army infantryman and they were married in 1948. Glenwood and his German War Bride sailed home and settled at the family farm in Skowhegan. Henny raised her children, tended the farm with her husband and sold Avon for a time.
She worked as a buyer for Crane’s Department Store before finishing her working career as an executive secretary at the Cooperative Extension of Somerset County. Henny was recognized by the Cooperative Extension for her years of organizing the 4-H program.
After living in Maine for 19 years, she returned to Germany to visit her extended family and friends with her two youngest children. Then, during her retirement she and Glenwood traveled extensively including Texas, Pennsylvania, and more trips to Germany.
Henny was a skilled seamstress and a traditional homemaker. She baked weekly, enjoyed yarn crafts and loved marzipan. She was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church and then Faith Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Turner and his wife Diane of North Anson, Christina (Turner) Forshey and her husband Tommy of Altoona, PA, Michael Turner of Skowhegan, and David Turner and his wife Debra of Anson; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Barnard and husband Aaron, Gabriel Turner and his wife Amalia, Andy Smith, Terry Smith and wife Jessica, Denise Lang and husband Brad, Courtney Turner, Jakob Turner, and Dustin Turner; and four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Tyler, Telena and Ticy.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Glenwood and her son Stephen Turner.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday February 22, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday February 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Faith Baptist Church, 19 Washburn Lane, Skowhegan, Maine.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Maplecrest nurses and staff especially Sheila who treated our Mom as if she were her own, Betsy, Cheryl and Dr. Smith who all watched over her and went out of their way to make Mom comfortable. May the Lord bless them all.
