

He was born in Athens, Maine, on Maya 4, 1918, the son of Calvin Delmont Sinclair and Lelia (Thompson) Sinclair.
He served in World War II from March of 1941 to August 19, 1945. He spent 3 years in the South Pacific. He landed in New Zealand, and then shipped out to New Caledonia, then to Russell Islands, and to Solomon Islands, Guadal Canal, then New Guinea, and Luzon in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant.
He married the love of his life, Phyllis Noble, on November 30, 1946, in Cambridge, Maine.
John worked at Quimby Veneer Mill in Bingham, Maine until it closed in 1975. He then worked on construction at the Somerset Plant of S.D. Warren Company in Skowhegan. He then went to work for Madison School Department S.A.D. # 59 until he retired in 1983.
He was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene in Skowhegan.
He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis, his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his daughter Linda and her husband Carroll Gould of Cornville, his grandson Calvin Gould and fiancé Shelly Taylor of Cornville, his granddaughter Heather and her husband Kelly Steward of Las Vegas, Nevada, three great grandchildren Brittany and her husband Brandon Lane of Anson, Kayla Gould of Cornville, Darren George Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, a great-great granddaughter Emilee Blodgett of Anson, a brother Benjamin Orwood Sinclair of Cornville, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
A special thank you to the staff and especially the Cedar Ridge Hickory Unit Staff for the excellent care that was given to Dad; you are all so very much appreciated.
Visitation will be held Sunday August 12, 2012 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, East Madison Rd., Skowhegan, with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Brian Hale officiating, burial to follow at the Mount Rest Cemetery, Athens, Maine.
In Lieu of flowers, friends wishing to make donations in John’s memory can be made to the Skowhegan First Church of the Nazarene’s building fund.
