

He was born June 23, 1939, in Skowhegan, Maine, the son of Claude Wendell Day and Delphine Katherine (Beaulieu) Day.
He was raised in Skowhegan, until entering the US Army and serving eight years in the service with the 82nd Airborne, and 21st Artillery before returning to Skowhegan, Ken met and married Brenda Mayo on July 20, 1959 in Hawaii. He then served four years at Fort Devens, in Ma. later, returning to Skowhegan to finish his high school education receiving his diploma and to raise his family with Brenda.
Ken worked at Norrwock Shoe, Somerset Oil Company and then for the Madison Paper Company where he worked for many years.
He was a communicant at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Skowhegan, and a past member of the American Legion.
Ken enjoyed antiques, old cars, woodworking where he was very talented, making furniture and gave it away he was very generous.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Brenda Day of Skowhegan, his six children; Carolyn Marcue of Mercer, Kenneth Day Jr. of Boston, MA, Steven Day and his wife Tamica of Madison, Dennis Day and his wife Kelly of Madison, Michelle Roach of Waterville, Christopher Day of Skowhegan, his nine grandchildren; Nicholas, Dustin, Stephen, Patricia, Jonathan, Shelby, Tyler, Jonathan, and Sarah.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Edward.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday September 6, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday September 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water St., Skowhegan, Maine with a burial to follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Skowhegan.
