Susan Picone

Susan devoted her life to caring for others, whether it be young children, who so loved spending their day at 'Nana's' while their parents were off at work, or veterans, who became family, after living with Susan who cared for them with the love, respect and care they so deserved.

Many were blessed with Susan's friendship, with Susan always eager to welcome a new person into her circle of friends. Most, who were lucky enough to be considered a friend, found themselves becoming a part of her family. Susan was an amazing cook and loved to chat, so that those close to her became very comfortable sharing time at her dining room table, doing just that.

She is survived by her children, Scott Picone, his wife, Heidi and their children, Brian, Katie, Christina and Mary, who reside in Middleboro, MA, as well as her daughter, Deborah Devlin, her husband, Gerard, and their children, Jay and Ryan, who reside is Forestdale, MA. She is also survived by her brother, Alan Sleeper, Jr, from Altus, Oklahoma, Alan's children, Steven Sleeper, Ronald Almeida, Christopher Sleeper and Teresa Sleeper, as well as her brother, Scott, from Middleboro, MA.

Susan is predeceased by her husband, Fred Gist, her parents, Edith and Alan Sleeper, Sr, as well as her sister, Virginia.

Susan's passing leaves a large hole in the hearts of her longtime dear friends Kathy and Jim Zingg, their children; Tyler and Colleen Zingg, Matthew and Brittany Zingg, Dylan Zingg and partner Alana Marconi and especially, Tyler's young children John and Marion.

No words can express the gratitude Susan's family feels towards those who cared for her in her final days, David, Perry and David. Your generosity of heart will always be remembered.

Visiting Hours for Susan will be held on Saturday, June 17 beginning at 11AM at Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Avenue in Skowhegan. At noon a funeral service will begin at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 2 PM at Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison following the service.
