Tina Marie Mayo

She was born April 24, 1957 in Waterville, Maine, the daughter of George W. Stearns and Shirley (Taylor) Stearns.

She attended and graduated from Skowhegan Area High School of the class of 1975.

She married Mike Mayo on May 21, 1977 in Fairfield, Maine.

Tina worked in customer service at various jobs over the years.

She loved gatherings; she baked cakes for many birthdays and her specialty weddings. We all enjoyed her whoopie pies and peas for every occasion.

She was a jack of all trades; she was the family carpenter, she was always the first to lend a hand and precise measurement on a set of stairs, shed and our family homes.

Tina was very creative; she would sew anything from a hem on a pant leg, many special Christmas stockings and even a popup camper.

She loved her family; she may not have had children but she was in the birthing room bringing four special children into this world.

As Mike says, “She’s a Very Special Lady” and beloved by many.

Besides her husband Michael of 40 years of Canaan, she leaves her sister Patsy Stearns of Canaan, her brother Jason Stearns and his wife Annette of Canaan; her mother and father-in-law David and Beverly Mayo of Shawmut; four brothers-in-laws, Stephen Mayo and his wife Melanie of Fairfield, James Mayo of Benton, Timothy Mayo and his wife Karen of Sidney, Ronald Mayo and his wife Heather of Skowhegan; four sisters-in-law, Corrisann Vigue and her husband Norman of Skowhegan, Donna Fortin and her husband Robert of Winslow, Mary Wadleigh and her husband Brian of Fairfield Cntr., Genie Mayo of New York; and several nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was predeceased by her mother and father and a brother-in-law Jeffery Mayo.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday November 10, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave. Skowhegan, Maine. A memorial service will be held Saturday November 11, 2017 at 10 am at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine, with a burial to follow services at the Fairview Cemetery in Canaan, Maine.
