Edwin Bo "Bo" Zimmerhanzel

Edwin Frank Zimmerhanzel, Jr., “Bo”, age 52, of Smithville, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013. He was born on July 12, 1960 to Edwin Frank and Donna Watson Zimmerhanzel in Houston, Texas.

The family moved to Smithville when Edwin was 5 years old and he lived in the Smithville area for the rest of his life. He graduated from Smithville High School in 1978. He was a member of SPJST Lodge #38 in Kovar as well as Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kovar.

“Bo” married Wendy Hickman in September, 1979. This marriage ended in divorce. He married Tricia Jones Perry on December 5, 1982. Tricia preceded him in death on January 1, 1996. Also preceding him were his grandparents, A. D. and Dorothy Watson, and Edward F. Zimmerhanzel, and his mother-in-law, Pat Jones.

Edwin is survived by his parents Edwin and Donna Zimmerhanzel; grandmother Elsie Zimmerhanzel; father-in-law Max M. Jones; sisters Dana Bunte and husband Bert, and Laura Frerich and husband Ronnie; daughters Chrissy Depine and husband Mark and Ashley Swinney and husband Michael; sons Sean Perry and wife Niki, Edwin Zimmerhanzel III and financee Ashley Tobala, and Josh Zimmerhanzel and financee Nikki Faubert.

“Bo” was blessed with ten grandchildren: Tricia, Nathan, and Trevyn Perry, Zachary Kirby, Emily and Lane Depine, Bentley Swinney, Kylie Williams, Easton Zimmerhanzel, and Averie Zimmerhanzel. He also had three nieces, Candace Bunte, Kelsie and Kacie Frerich and one nephew, Darren Bunte.

Bo was a beloved son, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He loved the time spent with his family and was always happy to lend a hand, whether it involved yard work or mechanic work. He was an excellent mechanic and loved loud flashy cars, like his bright red Corvette. He liked to be outdoors and especially loved fishing with his kids. Bo will be greatly missed.

Visitation and Rosary were held Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home in Smithville.

Funeral Mass was held at 10 AM on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Kovar. Interment followed at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Kovar, TX.

Pallbearers were: Sean Perry, Trey Zimmerhanzel, Josh Zimmerhanzel, Michael Swinney, Mark Depine, Robert Schobel, and Zachary Kirby.
