

Marie Inez (Dement) Freytag Capdevielle was born on 10-24-1919 in Bastrop County, Texas to James Gilbert Dement and Josie Myrtle (Jackson) Dement, both deceased. Marie was reared in Smithville, Texas where she completed all her formal education.
Marie married Aaron Freytag in Smithville in 1938. They had one son, Ronald. Marie married Leo Capdevielle in Houston in 1988. Both Aaron and Leo are deceased.
Marie is survived by son Ronald Freytag and wife Rita of Tomball; grandson Larry Freytag and wife Karen of Klein; granddaughters Rhonda Tasker and husband Bill of The Woodlands, Sheri Howard and husband Paul of Cypress and Michelle Tillmon and husband Todd of Cypress. Great-granddaughters Amber Gurganus and husband Hadley, Brooke Hluza and husband Nick, Madison Tasker and Taylor Tillmon. Great-grandsons Austin Freytag, Brandon and Cameron Howard and Cannon Tasker. Great-great-grandsons Hunter Gurganus, Bentley Freytag and Travis Hluza. Great-great-granddaughters Rylee Freytag and Emma Hluza and another on the way! Brother Carl Dement of La Grange and sister Shirley McKeown of Giddings and many nieces and nephews.
Marie was pre-deceased by grandson Lance Freytag, great-great-grandson Carson Freytag, sisters Dorothy Mikulenka of Houston and Geraldine Gay of Beaumont.
Marie was a member of Smithville’s 1st Baptist Church until 1960 when she moved to Houston and became a member of Baptist Temple. She later moved to Tomball and joined 1st Freewill Baptist Church in Tomball, where she has remained an active member.
Marie retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Houston with thirty three years service, retiring as an Estimate Assigner in the Plant Department.
She lived independently her entire life. God was good and blessed her with tremendous health. She loved God, family, painting, gardening, baking and sewing.
Service on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home in Smithville. Burial will follow immediately at Oak Hill Cemetery outside Smithville. Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Bobby Ferguson of 1st Freewill Baptist Church of Tomball.
