

Max began his funeral career in San Antonio, relocated to Smithville in 1952 and has been serving this community with the special dedication and commitment essential to his profession for over 60 years. He was the oldest living past president of the Texas Funeral Directors Association.
Max was active in his community for many decades. He was involved in Smithville Noon Lions Club, Smithville Housing Authority, Smithville Hospital Authority, and the W. J. Nixon Masonic Lodge # 421 in Smithville, Austin Scottish Rite and Ben Hur Shrine Temple. Max was proud to be Smithville’s 2001 Citizen of the Year and a U. S. Navy Veteran.
He is preceded by his wife, Patricia Jones; daughter, Tricia Zimmerhanzel; and brother, Clarence Allen who died serving his country in World War II.
Max is survived by his son, Alan Jones and wife, Lori of Spring, TX, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held January 11, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Smithville. The graveside service followed under the auspices of W. J. Nixon Masonic Lodge #421 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Smithville, TX.
