

Aurora Pauline Brandvold was born August 15th 1941 in Wadena, Saskatchewan, Canada. She passed away surrounded by her loving family February 8th 2012 in Everett, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Skulmunder Einar Thorsteinson and Beatrice Thorsteinson, and daughter Donelle Brandvold. She leaves behind her husband of 48 years Duane Brandvold, four sons James, Joseph, Johnathan (wife Corrine), and Jason. She also leaves behind her loving grandchildren Kathryn, Jacob, Thomas, and Jeremiah; as well as her siblings Daniel Thorsteinson (wife Judy) of Foam Lake SK, Wilton Thorsteinson (wife Patsy) of Medicine Hat AB, Gail Hnatiuk (husband Ron) of Coquitlam BC, and 18 nieces and nephews, and 26 grandnieces and grandnephews.
Aurora grew up in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada on the family wheat farm. She met the love of her life, Duane whom she married in Saskatchewan in 1963. They located to Everett, WA before settling in the community of Snohomish and raising their four sons. She was proud of her Icelandic heritage, she loved her Canadian origin, and she naturalized as a US citizen in 1986. Aurora’s passions included nursing, reading, genealogy and gardening. She made a tradition of attending the annual Tulip Festival in Mt. Vernon. Together with her husband Duane, Aurora loved to spoil her grandchildren with her undivided attention. Aurora’s heart was most fulfilled spending time with friends and family, at home in Snohomish, in Hawaii, at the beach cabin on Camano Island, traveling and living life to its fullest. She loved beachcombing, sunshine and being near the water. Her education included graduating from Foam Lake High School in ‘59, Grey Nun’s School of Nursing ‘61, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Seattle Pacific University ‘86, Seattle University with a Master’s of Science in Public Health ‘96 and soon after became a Certified Oncology Nurse. She enjoyed working as a nurse and caregiver for 41 years. She was dedicated to her church hosting groups, teaching childrens Catechism and reading scripture at Mass. A Rosary will be prayed at 6pm Feb. 14, 2012 at Bauer Funeral Chapel at 701 1st St., Snohomish, WA 98290. The family encourages those who knew and loved Aurora to attend the Funeral Mass celebrating her life Wednesday, February 15th at 11 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1512 Pine Ave. Snohomish, WA. 98290.
