May 20, 1936 – April 30, 2025
Dale Max Surdyk, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 30th, 2025, due to complications from a skiing accident earlier that month.
Born to Ruth and George Surdyk of Snohomish, Dale was the eleventh of twelve children—and the last surviving sibling. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dannie and his son Bentley.
Dale lived a life of service, hard work, and quiet strength. He was a servant leader in every sense—whether working for his employer, tending to homestead projects, or helping his children and grandchildren build their own lives. Dale was always willing to lend a hand and was known for his creative and practical problem-solving skills.
He also knew how to enjoy life. Dale had a deep love for the outdoors—skiing, swimming, camping, hiking, RVing, and visiting with friends and family. Skiing became his passion in the late 1960s and remained a central part of his life. He and his son Jerry even built a cabin near Stevens Pass, where the family made many unforgettable memories.
Even after losing his wife, Dale continued to pursue his passion—often skiing over 60 days a season.
Dale is survived by his children Jerry, Larry, Leon, and Linda, as well as a large and loving group of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dale will be remembered for his warm heart, tireless work ethic, and the joy he found in the simple things—especially time spent with family in the mountains he loved so dearly.
