

Jean Marie Leroux, affectionately known as Jeannie, born July 1, 1942 in Everett, WA to Helmer and Helen Ness, passed away on January 24, 2014 in Everett, WA. Jeannie taught intermediate grades at Olivia Park Elementary School in Mukilteo School District for 27 years. Along with her husband Gordie, she grew beautiful dahlias and discovered precious stones and minerals in mountains and caves throughout the Northwest and Canada. She cherished her time spent with people battling cancer and time spent with friends and family. Jeannie is survived by her sisters, Patricia Bjerkan and Elizabeth Nelson, nieces Tonya Heike and Lisa Nelson-Kosky, nephews Chad Bjerkan and David Nelson and her great nephews and nieces to whom she was a second grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon “Gordie” Leroux whom she married in 1971. Jean was a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of Jeannie’s life will be held on Wednesday February 5th at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Snohomish. Memorial donations in her name may be made to a charity of your choice. The family wants to give a special thank you to Everett Clinic and Providence Medical Center for their care and support in her medical challenges.
