

John was born December 27th, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas to Felix and Juanita Garza. He was the second born of 7 children. John’s family later moved to Michigan and finally to Los Angeles, California. This is where he met and married his wife Lydia. They lived in California until 1965, when they made their way north to Everett, WA.
In 1970 John and Lydia built a house on 5 acres in the town of Snohomish, where they raised 5 kids. This home was their pride. It was a haven for their family and will always be their final resting place.
John was preceded in death by his siblings, Angela, Lucy, Fred, Felix and David; his son Ted, daughter Annette, grandson Christopher and his beloved wife Lydia.
He is survived by his brother Rudy Garza and his children; son William (and Norma) Garza of Kenmore, WA, his daughter Julie (and Kurt) Edmark of Marysville, WA, daughter Susan Garza (and Greg) of Everett, son Raymond (and Mary) Fosburg of Kalamazoo, Michigan and his grandson Johnny (and Bri) Garza, of Everett whom he raised like his own son.
John leaves behind 14 grandchildren, Bri, Mario, Bree, Jillian, Porsha, Jazmin, Marissa, Sami, Taylor, Dakota, Logan, Brielle, Jon and Tiffany. And 7 great-grandchildren, Alexis, Isaiah, Anthony, Javien, Gavin, Lydia and Elsie.He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
John spent most of his career working for the City of Everett Water Department, where he received many awards, retiring after 33 years of service in 2003. John will be remembered for his integrity and generosity. He was always there no matter what you needed. He was a selfless father, grandfather, and friend. He had the greatest sense of humor and loved making people laugh. Even in the last days of his life, he made sure the people around him were ok by keeping a smile on our faces.
His service will be held at Hope Church at 5002 Bickford in Snohomish on Saturday 02/12 at 1PM. Service will be followed by a small amount of snacks and drinks, with a large reception at Grandma and Grandpa Garza’s house afterward.
