

October 9, 1935-January 25, 2015 John (Jack) Walchenbach of Lake Stevens, Wash. died peacefully after a short illness with his family at his bedside on January 25, 2015. He was born in Paterson, New Jersey on October 9, 1935 to parents Ann Van Olst and Paul Walchenbach, and attended Hope College, and graduated from New Brunswick Seminary in 1960 and served Hopewell Reform Church. He returned to his educational pursuits with a Master of Theology at Pittsburgh Seminary; and Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1974. Jack served many churches across the nation. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Don and Roy Walchenbach. Jack married the love of his life, Patricia Richardson, in 1963 and together they raised two children. He spent a 54 years serving the Lord and his community as a minister. Jack and Patricia are members of First Presbyterian Church Snohomish. Jack had many hobbies including hiking, climbing mountains, boating, reading, tennis, and travel. Most of all, Jack enjoyed time with family and friends. He was a dearly loved husband, dad, grandpa, and most of all child of God. He is survived by the family he loved so much, his wife, Patricia; his children, Timothy and James; daughters-in-law, Lisa and Macy; his grandchildren, Ben, Olivia, John, Cole, and Nate. Jack enriched many lives with his powerful sermons, sense of humor and warm presence. He will be missed by many!
