A celebration of life will be held Friday Aug 4th, 2023, at St Mary of the Valley Catholic Church in Monroe WA at 11:00 AM.
She will be laid to rest beside her loving Husband William at Holyrood Cemetery on Aug 18th in Shoreline WA.
Our Mother was a beautiful soul who never spoke an unkind word or in anger. Her first impulse was to laugh with wonder and the joy of the life she lived. Born in Seattle on Beacon Hill to Patrick and Erma, with two brothers and two sisters. She recounted many wondrous stories of her childhood. Growing up in Seattle and summering on their small farm in Maple Valley.
During the Second World War while still a teen, Kathy as she was called then worked operating elevators in various buildings in Seattle. Later going to beauty school and ultimately becoming the head beautician at Fredrick and Nelsons while working evenings as a waitress at Ivar’s Restaurant on Pier 54.
She recounts the day she met our father. Encouraged by a mutual friend, he showed up at her beautician station dressed in rubber boots and a white butcher’s coat to introduce himself. Despite the awkward introduction, not to mention his attire, she saw something special in her Bill and he was struck by her beauty. So, he set about pursuing her hand in marriage until she finally gave him her answer of yes, thus began a romance that would last them the rest of their lives.
Our Mom and Grandma was a devout Catholic who loved God never wavering in her faith. She leaves a loving and dedicated family behind, but also a faith community with whom she served selflessly through education and volunteerism during her long life.
We shall all miss your wisdom, kindness, thoughtfulness, and unselfish love. You were a perfect example in our lives and now we pray you watch over us from heaven until we all join you there.
We Love you Mom, Grandma, Great Grandmother. Your Family
