Mary E. Schwedler
November 14, 1920 – May 23, 2015
Mary E. Schwedler of Everett passed peacefully from death unto life eternal into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, May 23, 2015. Mary was born on November 14, 1920 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the third child of five children of Quentin and Laura Wright. Mom was kind, generous, tender-hearted, fun-loving and happiest when with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends.
Mary grew up in a musical Christian family and developed into an accomplished pianist and organist, playing for a number of churches as an adult. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle and attended Simpson Bible College, also in Seattle. As a young wife and mother, she worked in the credit department of the Bon Marche in Seattle. She raised a growing family of three girls beginning with Carole Ann, born in 1945; Gayle, born in 1949; and Karen, born in 1959.
After Karen's birth in 1959, a job transfer took the family from the large city of Seattle to the small town of Chehalis, WA where she embraced the small town life enthusiastically. She was, once again, a church pianist and organist and involved in a number of civic organizations. She hosted dinner parties and was a welcoming hostess and a wonderful cook. She also hosted large family dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was a devoted wife and mother and an exemplary homemaker.
In 1973, Mary relocated to Everett, WA and joined Bible Baptist Church. She was, once again, the church pianist and organist for many years. She also accepted the job of church secretary and served in that capacity for many years with founding Pastor Ronald Storz. Her warm personality fit perfectly into this new job, and she flourished as the secretary-treasurer of a growing church. She was a much loved senior saint at Bible Baptist Church in her latter years and never lost her love for the Lord and His Word.
Mom is survived by daughters Carole (Don) Carroll, Everett; and Karen (Gary) Goldstein, Everett. Grandchildren: Jamie Carroll; Don Carroll, Jr., Courtney (Jeff) Cops; Kaitlyn Glick (Devon); Brittany and Hunter Goldstein. Great grandchildren: Laurie Reddy; Alyssa and Gabriel Cops; Brayden and Giuliana Glick; Mason Brown. Special friends Helen Russell and Alice Iverson.
Special thanks for the extraordinary care in the last years of Mom's life to the staff of Emeritus Assisted Living in Everett and Merry Haven in Snohomish.
