Melvin Arthur Monro passed away on July 17, 2012 while his wife of 62 years held his hand. Mel was born on December 12, 1931 in Seattle Washington. He spent much of his childhood living and working on a farm in Summerland, BC. When Mel was 19 years old he moved to Seattle Washington and began his long career of 38 years with the Boeing Company. Mel’s greatest joys came from camping, hunting, and fishing with his family. He was an active member of the Washington Duck Club and the National Rifle Association.
Mel is survived by his loving wife Barbara, his Step-Mother: Ruby Flegiel, his children: Marjorie Broock-Shana Settle, Stephen & Jo Monro, Melinda & Steve Howisey . He is also survived by 3 Sisters: Marjorie Renich, Alynne Prins, Lorraine Olfason, 10 grandchildren: Rebecca & Bryan Johnson, Justin & Nichole Monro, Jessica Erickson, Dara & Russ Jutte, Amy Monro, Ashley Howisey, & April Broock, and 8 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 25, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Future of Flight located at Paine Field Airport. All who knew Mel are invited.
