

Born in Texarkana, Arkansas, she was the daughter of John Truett and Helen Marie (Ward) Montgomery. She graduated from Lompoc High School in 1966. She worked 31 years for the Federal Civil Service as an administrative and security specialist. She began her career at Eglin AFB, Florida, and later transferred to RAF Menwith Hill in Harrogate, England; Bad Aibling Station, Germany; Fort Meade, Maryland; Patch Barracks, Stuttgart, Germany; and finally retired from Buckley AFB, Aurora, Colorado, in 2011.
Sandy enjoyed traveling to new places, exploring the area, and shopping for souvenirs. While working in England and Germany, she traveled to many destinations in Wales, Scotland, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, Greece, and the Scandinavian countries. She was well traveled and had many stories to share about her destinations, the people she met, and the places where she stayed.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Thomas Richards; her son, Gregory (Yvonne) Richards of Lynnwood, WA; Grandchildren Kristi Richards of Bolton MA; Brittany (Rich) Gutierrez of Lakewood WA; Tyler (Taylor) Richards of Port Orchard, WA; and Allen (Alley) Richards of Bremerton, WA; and 11 Great-Grandchildren; and her sister, Janice Bailey, of Snohomish, WA.
In accordance with Sandy’s wishes, she was cremated without a funeral or memorial service.
