

Theodore “Ted” Beckmeyer was born to Theodore and Mary (Mobius) Beckmeyer on December 1, 1928 in Hartford, Washington and passed away after an extended illness on May 19, 2016 at age 87 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Snohomish in the loving care of his family and Evergreen Hospice.
Ted grew up in Snohomish attending Zion Lutheran School and Snohomish High School, then Columbia University and the University of Washington where he received a Ph.D. in Deaf Education.
He served in Korea in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.
Ted taught deaf and hard of hearing children for the majority of his career at Seattle Public Schools.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Morris and his sister Martha.
He is survived by his wife Claretta Joy (Erdman) Beckmeyer married for almost 60 years; his sister MaryAnne; his children, Mark, Judy, Matthew and Dwight; and numerous other family and friends.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 26th, at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, 2020 Ludwig Road in Snohomish and a Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 329 Avenue A, Snohomish. Reception following.
Memorials are suggested to Puget Sound Honor Flight, Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Lake Stevens, or a charity of your choice.
