Everyone always commented about his big smiling face with deep dimples, and his beautiful blue eyes.
He attended Lake Stevens Schools: Glenwood Elem., Lake Stevens Middle School, Cavelero, Lake Stevens High School and Running Start at Everett Com College during his Junior and Senior years. He completed his 2 year Associates with Everett Com. College.
Zak loved the outdoors from early on. While on a family trip, driving through mountains Zak asked, “Dad, can we stop? I want to climb that mountain.” He always seemed to be in or near the top of trees, running barefoot in the backyard and forest trails. He loved to snowboard with Linz, JJ, and his friends, not always staying on the groomed trails. After getting his endorsement he loved riding and working on his vintage motorcycles. More recently he got into rock climbing and was becoming an avid climber.
As a teenager he learned to play the guitar by watching videos, getting pointers from friends and taught himself. He used this skill as an intern for the junior high group at church. He loved to interact in their lives encouraging them in any way he could.
At the age of 19 he and a friend went to Iceland, Amsterdam, and Germany for 6 weeks. Traveling on a quarter, brought forth many adventures and experiences for Zak such as sleeping on a fire escape balcony; getting a ride from a local, ending up where he’d started; being chased through a forest in the dark by a boar.
Everywhere Zak went he met new people instantly forming a bond with them through meaningful conversation. He always tried to live his life not conforming to other people’s standards and expectations but encouraged people to do the same and not worry about what others thought.
He passed into Gods hands October 13, 2015 at the age of 22 on Mt. Pilchuck.
We will greatly miss Zak and his genuine heart. He touched so many lives in different ways. We’ll miss his smile, his laughter and All his funny faces.
