George F. Whitfield

George F. Whitfield, 78, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday August 28th at the NYS Veteran’s Home in Oxford. He was born in Berrie Springs, MI to the late Merril and Mary Elizabeth (Kelly) Whitfield. George was a US Army Veteran, serving from 1955 to 1958. He was an avid golfer and baseball and basketball fan. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Rosemary Hawkins.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Janet Hartman, of Baldwinsville and Tracey (Paul) Bertelli, of Weedsport, a son, Michael, of NY City, 4 grandchildren, Kristin Ashley and Matthew Corey Kavanaugh, Nicholas Mark and Taylor Jade Hartman, 2 great grandchildren, Matthew and Paxton, 3 sisters, Marilyn Bierwagon and Judy Spychalski, both of Michigan and Geneva Rogers, of Durham, NC, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call Saturday, September 6th from 9 to 10 am with services to follow at 10 am at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue.
