

Irene (Papaleoni) Benedetti, 94, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday, August 26th at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. She was born in Solvay to the late Severino and Marie (Cadonna) Papaleoni in 1921. She was a 1939 graduate of Solvay High School and attended CCBI. She worked in the payroll departments of A&P Bakery Warehouse for 25 years and Frazer and Jones for 11 years before retiring in 1983. Irene bowled in the Solvay Women’s Commercial League over 50 years and with the Solvay Tuesday Awesome Rollers for 25 years. She was a longtime member of the Solvay Tyrol Club Auxiliary and former member of St. Joseph’s Funeral Guild. Irene was proud of the fact she was a breast cancer survivor. She was predeceased by her husband Albert “Bembo” in 2011.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Susan Brewer, of Solvay and Mary (Steve) Kyryk, of PA, 2 sons; Richard Benedetti, of NC and Mark (Deborah) Benedetti, of WV, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a sister; Alyce Kin, of CA and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 8:45 am Saturday, August 29, 2015 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 9:30 am at St. Cecilia Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Friday, August 28, 2015 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, PO Box 187, Warners, NY 13164.
