Laura (DeGilio) Cavallo

Laura (DeGilio) Cavallo, 93, of Solvay, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Italy to the late Graziano and Maria (D’Alessio) DeGilio in 1921. She was a 1939 graduate of Solvay High School and lifelong communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church. Laura was a secretary to the superintendent for the Syracuse City School District from 1955 until retirement in 1982. She was a member of the Women’s Piercefield Club, CSEA union, Allied Chemical Retirement Club and the Geddes Seniors. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1989, her brother, Ralph DeGilio and sister, Angelina Cacciola.

She is survived by 2 daughters; Carol (Neil) Burrei, of Syracuse and Linda (John) Tucciarone, of Solvay, 4 grandchildren; Dr. Christopher (Laura) Burrei, Alison (James) Fragnito, Kristi (Kevin) Glovack and Nicholas (Meecie) Tucciarone, 9 great-grandchildren; Matthew, Thomas, Rachael, Christopher, Andrew, Lexie, Gianna, Zachary and Braelyn, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 9:45 am Saturday, January 17, 2015 in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 10:30 am at St. Cecilia’s Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, DeWitt. Family and friends may call Friday, January 16, 2015 from 4 to 7 pm at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue.
