Noemi Salvaterra, 96, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday October 5th at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Austria, she immigrated to Solvay in 1927. She was employed by Solvay Process for over 23 years before retiring in 1969. Mrs. Salvaterra was a communicant of St. Brigid and St. Joseph Church and a member of the Solvay Tyrol Club Auxillary. She was predeceased by her husband Frederick in 1989 and her sister Mary Capella and brother Gus Bertolini.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Sister Mary Salvaterra, CSJ, of Scranton, PA and Anita Barone, of Westvale, 1 son; Arthur (Catherine) Salvaterra, of Falls Church, VA, 4 grandchildren; Kristin Barone, of Syracuse, Nicole Messick, Danielle Salvaterra and Jill Sullivan, all of VA, 3 great grandchildren, 1 sister-in-law; Irene Bertolini, of Solvay, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:15 am Friday October 8th in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 10 am in St. Brigid and St. Joseph Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 pm Thursday October 7th at the funeral home, 2601 Milton Ave., Solvay.
