

Joseph Medeiros Carepa, “Joe”, age 75, passed away Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Providence VA Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Maria G. (Camara) Carepa with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.
Born in Graciosa, Portugal, the son of the late Jose DeMedeiros Furtado and Maria (Furtado) Carepa, he immigrated to the United States in 1964 and had lived in Dighton for over 30 years.
A proud Veteran of the United States Army and National Guard, he served in the Vietnam War and was the recipient of The Purple Heart medal.
A skilled photographer, he enjoyed fishing, trips to the beach, and True Crime Documentaries. A generous and good man, he will be remembered and missed for his sense of humor and big heart.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Christopher Carepa and his wife Maria of Foxborough; one daughter, Katrina Carepa of Dighton; three brothers; one sister; two grandchildren, Sofia and Emelia Carepa and many nieces and nephews.
Private arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, Somerset.
