

Born in Worcester, the son of the late John C. Higgins Jr. and the late Rose (McGarrell) Higgins, he lived in Dighton for many years before moving to Seekonk.
A graduate of Burncoat High School in Worcester, class of 1973, Mark received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1977. He also received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts from Rhode Island College in 1980.
Mark was a certified residential real estate appraiser and owned Higgins Appraisal Services.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Jennifer (Higgins) Kavanagh and her husband Stephen of Barrington, RI, Mary E. Higgins of Brookline, and Thomas B. Higgins of Brookline; one grandson, Jack Kavanagh; three siblings, John C. Higgins III and his wife Imelda of Boston, Garrell J. Higgins of Worcester, and Susan (Higgins) Coomey and her husband Michael of Paxton; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 10:00AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St. Fall River. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his honor may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or to Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 N. Main St., Providence, RI 02904. Burial will be private.
