Barbara E. Conlon

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John and Esther (Hugo) Sorensen, she was a life-long resident of the area.

Barbara graduated from New Bedford High School in 1944. She had many hobbies which included crocheting afghans, caning chairs, braiding rugs, bicycle riding, bird watching and baking. She also enjoyed taking trips to Cape Cod and the White Mountains in New Hampshire.

Most of all she loved being a wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.

Besides her husband she is survived by five children, Kathy Grandmaison and her fiancé Martin Thoren of Fall River, Susan Socha and her husband Daniel of Dartmouth, Kerry Forsing and her husband Eric of New Hampshire, Peter Conlon of Fairhaven and his companion Ann Vandemoer of Dartmouth and David Conlon of New Bedford; a brother, John Sorensen and his wife Muriel of New Bedford; a sister, Dorothy Pearson and her husband David of Dennis; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann De Sando and her husband Joseph of Rochester, New York; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also the mother of the late James Conlon.

Her funeral and burial were private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, Massachusetts Division, 25 Shawmut Rd., Canton, MA 02021. Arrangements are in the care of the Waring Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute, Dartmouth.
