Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a son of the late Alfred and Flora (Martinez) Fernandez, he immigrated to the United States in 1960.
Mr. Fernandez served in the Army Argentina, as well as the Merchant Marines. He was a self-employed Commercial Fisherman for many years before retiring. He enjoyed being with his family and especially loved spending time with his two grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by: his daughter, Jeanne LaVoie and her husband Eric of Dartmouth; two grandchildren, Taylor and Ryan LaVoie also of Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late John Fernandez and Edelma Cajide.
His funeral will be held Monday, January, 12, 2015 at 9 AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN Home of Memorial Tribute, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, followed by his funeral mass at 11 AM in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will be private. Visiting hours, Monday 9-10:30 AM prior to the mass.
