

Born in Portsmouth, RI, the daughter of the late Antone and Evelyn Medeiros and the late Sally Croteau, she had resided in Dartmouth for most of her life.
Mrs. Goncalves had worked as the salad bar manager at Stop & Shop for many years. Previously, she had worked in the Dartmouth school system cafeterias and Fotomat.
She loved cooking for her family and friends and was especially fond of Rachel Ray’s cooking shows. She also enjoyed needlepoint and word search puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored.
Survivors include her son, Donald R. Goncalves, owner and operator of A-1 Home Improvements in Dartmouth and her daughter, Jackie Pinheiro and husband Mark; a brother, Antone Medeiros; two sisters, Shirley Juhl and Verna Fontaine; four grandchildren, James Pinheiro and wife Tiffany, Christina Pinheiro and her companion David Monteiro, Tyler and Eric Goncalves; four great-grandchildren, Emily Pinheiro, Callie and Ava Monteiro and Kadence Goncalves; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was the mother of the late Jeffrey C. Goncalves.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 8am from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a funeral mass at 9am in St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Visiting hours Friday 5-8pm. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery.
