Elvira Costa DeMello

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late William and Clotilde (Bettencourt) Costa, she was a graduate of New Bedford High School and has been a Dartmouth resident for over 50 years.

Mrs. DeMello was employed as an Optician with Dr. Walter M. Platt, Jr. and later with Eye Health Associates. She was also a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Dartmouth.

She is survived by her two sons: Arthur DeMello Jr. of Dartmouth and Wayne M. DeMello of Westford, MA; four grandchildren Nathan, Chloe, Carly and Colin DeMello; a brother Leonard Costa of New Bedford and three nieces and a nephew.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 9AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10AM in St. Mary’s Church 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
