

She was born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Rodrigues) Frias and has been a lifelong Dartmouth resident. Mrs. Mello was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and communicant St. Julie Billiart Church. She was employed by the Department of Social Services for the State of Massachusetts and a strong Community Advocate. She was a Founding Member and Treasurer of the Dartmouth Women’s Club, former President and Member of the Dartmouth Enrichment League and a Member of the Massachusetts State Federation of Women.
She is survived by her three children J. Kim Mello of Tomah, WI, Jonathan S. Mello and his wife Nancy P. Keegan of Weston, MA and Jane M. Mello of Tomah, WI; two granddaughters Emily and Julia Mello and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Oswald, Ernest C., Edward C., Manuel, Raymond C. and Lillian C. Frias and Mae Correia.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 9am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT DARTMOUTH 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by her funeral mass at 10am in St. Julie Billiart Church 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-7pm. Memorial Contributions in her honor may be made to Brandon Woods of Dartmouth 567 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth, MA 02748. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
